Sam and Mandy Weaver's Churton Vineyard spans a ridgeline bordering the Waihopai Valley and Omaka's high country. Corofin's Pinot comes from 0.5 hectares of the northerly 'Clod Block', a northeast-facing terrace planted around 20 years ago. Managed organically (Bio Gro), it's the most inland and southern site that Corofin source from. Therefore, it's the most extreme with a high diurnal range. It's often picked some ten days after Cowley. Another point of differentiation is the soil here--this parcel has plenty of gravel running through the clay.
Château Cos d'Estournel is located in the Médoc appellation of Bordeaux, France, and produces the G d'Estournel Médoc wine. The 2019 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, with a deep ruby color and aromas of dark fruits, blackberry, blackcurrant, and a hint of cedar. On the palate, it is rich and full-bodied, with firm tannins and a long finish. The 2019 vintage experienced ideal weather conditions, with a hot summer followed by a cooler September that allowed the grapes to reach optimal ripeness while retaining freshness and acidity.

Rhubarb and redcurrant are there on the nose, cassis in the foreground with liquorice and allspice following. The palate has a lovely textural quality with the fruit and gentle spice together with the savoury elements all integrating seamlessly.
Fresh fruit and supple tannins but still retains a lively acidity.
This wine walks the middle ground between being fruit driven and more complex and structured. Each of the contributing clones, 114, 115 and MV6; bring a unique character to the wine. Ideal ripening conditions and minimal yields have also contributed a level of complexity and a bright ruby red colour which further enhance the length and ageability of the wine. The texture is rich and structured with soft tannins and a good acid finish.
