Portsea Estate Portsea Vineyard Pinot Noir (2024)

750mL / Mornington Peninsula, VIC / Australia

Category: Wine
Sub-Category: Red wine

The Portsea Estate Portsea Vineyard Pinot Noir 2024 is drawn from the estate's flagship vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula, the site the whole property takes its name from, and it shows the extra concentration and detail that comes with that pedigree. This sits above the named-vineyard mid-tier wines in depth and complexity, just below the estate's single-block reserve red.

Dark cherry, plum and a distinct floral perfume open the wine, with layers of dried herb, earth and a faint spiced note building underneath as it sits in the glass and warms. The palate is silky yet layered, carrying real mid-palate density without ever feeling heavy or overdone, with the perfume staying present right through the finish.

Fine, well-integrated tannins support a long, structured finish, with the acidity giving the wine the tension it needs to age gracefully rather than simply fade with time.

Serve it with duck, mushroom-stuffed quail, venison, or a well-aged hard cheese such as Comté.

It is delicious now, especially with a little air, but is built to reward five or more years in the cellar.
