Rudolf Fürst Spätburgunder 'Tradition' (2015)

750mL / Franken / Germany

Category: Wine
Sub-Category: Red wine

Arguably the greatest producer of Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) in Germany, the wines of Rudolf Fürst have received critical acclaim both domestically and internationally.

They are at the forefront of pushing the quality and reputation of Pinot Noir from remany and proving that it can be considered among the best in the world.

Located in the Franken, focusing on vineyards in Centgrafenberg. The wines show texture, body, fruit and structure that reflect strongly a Burgundian influence on the wines.

Recent developments in the winery have been steadily improving the quality and complexity of the wines as the responsibility shifts form father to son.

Tasting Notes:

The entry level house "bourgogne rouge" or gutswein in made using 10% whole clusters.

It presents a very good, moderately sappy, pale, ripe cherry, spicy aromatic display - leading to a very fine textured wine of sappy red fruits with both light spices and a kiss of savoury flavours echoing on the finish with great length for a gutswein.

The generosity of the ripe, solar vintage gives this wine even more charm than it typically does, following the ol' axiom that in great vintages, 'lower' level wines rise above their typical station... as an intro to classiness and "Burgundian" classicism of the house style.
