Genesis 2021 is Castagna's benchmark syrah, biodynamically farmed on Beechworth granite and widely regarded as one of Australia's most serious cool-climate expressions of the variety.

Dark plum, blackberry and cracked pepper lead, with the savoury, floral lift that defines top Beechworth syrah. The palate is full yet elegant, with fine tannin structure and real length rather than sheer power.

2021 gave Victoria's high country good ripening conditions, and this wine shows both concentration and freshness as a result.

Serve with a char-grilled steak, slow-roasted lamb, or hard cheese.

Drinking well now, with the structure to hold for the next seven to ten years.
