The Domaine Lucien Muzard Meursault Les Meix Chavaux 2024 is a taut, mid-weight white Burgundy that leads with orchard fruit and citrus rather than richness. Meix Chavaux sits on the cooler Auxey-Duresses side of Meursault, and the wine carries that cut of freshness through to the finish.

Aromas run to ripe pear, white peach and lemon pith, with a light touch of honey and toasted hazelnut sitting behind the fruit. The palate is fine-boned and clear, apple and grapefruit carried on a saline, chalky line rather than broad texture.

Acidity is bright and well-defined, giving the wine tension from the middle of the palate outwards, while a gentle creaminess softens the edges. The finish is long, dry and faintly mineral, closing with lemon curd and crushed stone.

Roast chicken with tarragon, seared scallops, gruyère tart or a plate of oysters all sit comfortably alongside this Meursault. It also handles pork loin, brandade and mushroom risotto without being pushed out of shape.

Drink from 2026 through to about 2033. The 2024 growing season in Burgundy was a genuinely difficult one — cold, wet flowering and mildew pressure cut yields well below 2023 — but the whites came through with poise and moderate ripeness, which is exactly how this Meursault reads: less flesh than a warm year, more precision, and enough structure to reward a few years in the cellar.
