The Hartford Court Jennifers Vineyard Chardonnay 2021 is a single-vineyard Russian River Valley Chardonnay that sits between the taut, citrus-driven wines and the richer, rounder styles in this range, striking a genuine middle ground.

White peach, nectarine and a touch of orange blossom lead the nose, generous without being heavy. The palate carries that same stone-fruit character, fruit ripe and expressive through the mid-palate, with just enough freshness to keep it from feeling broad or flat.

Acidity is well judged, fresh enough to keep the fruit lively, with a medium body and a finish that is long and fruit-driven rather than mineral, closing on a note of ripe stone fruit.

It suits roast chicken with stone fruit, a Thai-style seafood curry or a simple cheese plate. A dish of grilled pork with a fruit-based glaze would also work nicely, as would a simple prawn and mango salad on a warm afternoon.
