Emmalene Emmalene Pinot Gris (2025)
750mL / Adelaide Hills, SA / Australia
Cool nights across the Adelaide Hills give the 2025 Emmalene Pinot Gris enough natural acidity to balance the variety's usual textural weight.
Pear and nashi pear lead, with a touch of apricot and a whisper of ginger spice rounding out the nose, and a light floral note sitting just behind the fruit. The palate is soft and rounded, with that same orchard and stone-fruit character carrying through the middle.
Acidity keeps things in check rather than dominating, giving a medium-bodied wine with real texture and a finish that lingers gently rather than cutting short. There's a faint waxy quality to the mouthfeel that adds interest without tipping the wine toward heaviness, and the finish carries a gentle spiced-pear note well after the fruit itself has faded.
It suits roast pork, dishes with warm Asian spicing, or a soft, washed-rind cheese, foods that can meet its texture rather than being swamped by it.
Drink it over the next one to two years while the fruit is fresh and the texture hasn't started to soften further.
