Robert Weil Rheingau Trocken (2020)

750mL / Kiedrich / Germany

Category: Wine
Sub-Category: White Wine

Eight half bottles only available. With this wine, Weil's 2012s come to a stunning crescendo. It is a testament to this enduring site and Weil's flawless vineyard management that this producer was able to, yet again, harvest grapes of every prädikat category (albeit in miniscule quantities at the BA, TBA and Eiswein level). It was thanks to the late season health of the vineyard and some bitter nights in the second week of December that enabled us to have eight bottles of this awe-inspiring nectar.

Based on the succulence of ultra ripe fruit concentration, rather than from noble rot, it weighs in with a dainty 8.5% alcohol and incredible natural acidity pirouetting its way through 185 g/l sugar.

Those who have tasted a Weil Eiswein will understand fully when we say that words cannot get anywhere near describing the kind of peerless balance, rare beauty and ecstasy that these wines can offer their owner. Let's just say 2012 is a great example of its genre and that were we from another time one could imagine this fluid flowing through the veins of gods. Of course a wine like this needs time-it will literally live forever.
