The Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé 2024 is a pale, silvery pink rosé from Provence built on freshness rather than weight. Made from Cinsault, Grenache, Rolle and Syrah grown around the village of Correns in the heart of the region, it is dry, taut and easy company.

The 2024 season in Provence gave the winemakers plenty to manage — frost in May, hail in July, then a cool, damp September that slowed ripening. That long, gentle finish to the year shows in the glass as bright natural acidity and a lighter colour than usual, with a nose of wild strawberry, white peach, pink grapefruit and a lift of hibiscus and spring flowers.

The palate is medium-bodied and finely drawn, with red berry fruit sitting over a saline, faintly stony core. Acidity does the structural work here, keeping the fruit tight and the texture silky rather than broad, and the finish is long, tangy and clean with a citrus-peel snap.

Serve it well chilled with grilled prawns, salade niçoise, goat's cheese and herbs, whole fish off the barbecue, or a spread of charcuterie and olives on a warm afternoon. It also handles lightly spiced food — Vietnamese salads, chicken skewers — better than most dry whites.

Drink now through to 2027, while the aromatics and that fresh acid line are at their best.
