The Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2019 is a traditional-method sparkling wine made entirely from Chardonnay, grown across the estate's vineyards in Kent and Sussex, England. As a pure varietal cuvée it shows a leaner, more linear style than the estate's blended wines.

The nose is all citrus, green apple and white blossom, with a chalky, mineral edge, a fine thread of brioche from lees ageing and a subtle nutty undertone that develops with air. The palate is precise and taut, with lemon and green apple carried on fine, persistent bubbles and a real sense of focus rather than breadth, the hallmark of a wine built from a single variety.

Acidity is the defining feature, giving the wine real cut and drive through to a long, clean, mineral finish.

Its precision suits delicate seafood, oysters or a simple plate of fresh shellfish, where its purity has nothing to compete with.

With several years of development already behind the 2019, it is drinking well now while retaining the freshness to improve further over the next few years.
