Very much a part of the recent McLaren Vale landscape in Australia, Penny's Hill take on this shiraz exemplifies such a fine full-bodied wine, perhaps answering how this region has become such a popular, favoured and attractive origin for both local and foreign markets.

Colour:

Amber due to aeging.

Bouquet:

Christmas cake, dried sultans, apricont and orange peel.

Palate:

Rich, concetrated palate of fruit cake, raisins, apricot jam, and a spicy warm finish. it is the perfect indulgence!

Food Complement:

Match with dessert, dried fruit, nuts or cheese.

Grapes:    100% Shiraz

Age of Vines:  13-14 years (planted 1991-1992).  2 tonnes/acre  

Vinification: 

Made in the traditional McLaren Vale style, the ‘Veteran’ was fortified on its skins with high quality brandy spirit, then pressed and stored in timber vats for 12 months prior to bottling.
