Château La Grave Figeac (2016)
750mL / Bordeaux / France
Pretty dark colour, deep, complex nose with notes of undergrowth and finely vanilla spices.
Offering elegant aromas of black raspberry, cassis, violets, a touch of leather, and loamy soil.
The mid-weight palate has good concentration and lift, with ripe black fruit character, and fine-grained tannins carrying over on a rich and long, succulent, layered finish.
Good overall balance. Generous attack, lots of volume.
This displays none of the roasted notes of the somewhat torrid vintage and is deeply satisfying, classic St. Emilion.
Delicious now, but possesses the balance to bode well for mid-term aging.
