Christine's Vineyard Grenache 2024 comes from a single site in the Barossa Valley's Vine Vale sub-district, named for a member of the Rusden family and made to showcase old-vine Grenache in its purest form. The style favours perfume and finesse over sheer weight, with a bright, translucent ruby colour typical of the variety.

Raspberry, red cherry and Turkish delight sit alongside dried herbs and a touch of white pepper, the aromatics lifted and expressive. A faint sarsaparilla note emerges with time in the glass, adding further complexity.

The palate is fine-boned, with silky tannins and bright acidity carrying a long, perfumed finish. There is real energy here rather than the density some Barossa reds lean on, and the wine feels weightless without ever seeming thin.

Pour it slightly cool with duck, mushroom dishes or a charcuterie spread - its lightness of touch makes it a versatile match at the table. It also pairs beautifully with a simple dish of roasted beetroot and goat's cheese.

It is approachable now but the fine tannin structure suggests it will hold and soften further over the next three to five years.
