Hewitson's 2021 Old Garden Vineyard Mourvèdre presents a captivating expression of this classic Rhône variety from the acclaimed Barossa Valley in Australia.

100% dry-grown mourvèdre from the world's oldest mourvèdre vines, planted by Friedrich Koch in 1853. Just eight rows of vines in Rowland Flat, in sand over limestone.

85% whole bunches, fermentation in vats over 30 days. Maturation in new Remond French oak barriques.

This full-bodied red wine immediately entices with its deep, inky crimson color, hinting at the richness within.

On the nose, discover an alluring bouquet of dark, brambly fruits and lifted aromas of forest berries, black cherries and orange peel. Subtle hints of violets and dried herbs add further complexity and intrigue.

With each sip, the 2021 Old Garden Mourvèdre reveals its velvety texture and robust structure.

The concentrated dark fruit flavors mingle with earthy undertones, subtle chocolate and coffee grounds, with a touch of spice and seamlessly integrated tannin creating a harmonious and lingering finish.

Well-integrated tannins provide ample structure, promising excellent aging potential.

Pair it with hearty dishes like grilled lamb, beef stew, or a rich mushroom risotto to fully appreciate its depth and complexity.
