Wildwood 2026 is Rusden's single-variety Cinsault from old vines in the Barossa Valley's Vine Vale sub-district, a variety usually buried into blends but given its own voice here. The style is light-bodied and fragrant, closer to a chillable red than the region's more typical, heavier reds, with a translucent, bright ruby colour in the glass.

Redcurrant, cherry and a touch of white pepper define the nose, with a faint floral lift reminiscent of rose petal and a savoury, dusty undertone beneath the fruit. There is a herbal edge, almost like crushed bay leaf, that gives the aromatics extra dimension.

Tannins are gentle and fine, and the acidity is bright, giving a palate that is juicy and energetic rather than structured or weighty. The finish is short, clean and refreshing, built for repeated pouring rather than slow contemplation, with a faint spiced note lingering after the swallow.

This is a red for warm evenings - serve it with a slight chill alongside charcuterie, grilled fish, or a simple tomato-based pasta where its lightness is an asset rather than a limitation. It is equally happy poured on its own before dinner.
