Poggio San Polo Governo IGT (2019)
750mL / Montalcino / Italy
80% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot, 5% Canaiolo
Originally planted in 1990, Allegrini of Veneto purchased San Polo in 2007 with the goal to transform the Estate into a premium world renowned venture.
A red wine that marries the elegance of Sangiovese with the soft, fruity notes of Merlot and Canaiolo. The ancient technique of Governo and the blend of these varieties create an original, fresh, elegant wine, with delicate hints of dried grapes.
"Intense ruby red in color with violet hues. Aromas of red berries, which the specific vinification technique underpins with hints of dried fruit and jam. With considerable structure, soft tannins and a long and lingering finish. The second fermentation using dried grapes confers a slightly sweetish sensation. This is an intense, warm wine with a full and rounded mouth-feel." - Winery Notes
