Purple-velvet. Deep and dark; bright, and complete with a beautiful rim-edge mirroring the parallax of the universe. Fresh plums ever so ripe but plucked from the tree at dawn when you are still remembering the evening before. Mulberry from a tree nearby, blackberry from the dusty laneway; bay leaf, lavender, roses wild and nutmeg. Deep brooding aromatics that reveal little but yet say all. 

This syrah builds and builds in the open bottle and poured glass, suggesting years ahead of it in your password-protected cellar. This is not only syrah for grown-ups but also syrah for versatility - people and foodstuffs, seasons and moods. Some truffle mash potato? Goat grilled over vine cuttings? A cheese board or pate? Or all of this? Syrah, not shiraz.
