Picardy Sauvignon Blanc Semillon (2026)

750mL / Pemberton / Australia

The Picardy Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2026 is a fine-boned white blend from Pemberton in Western Australia, pairing the aromatic lift of Sauvignon Blanc with the weight and texture Sémillon brings to the mix. It sits closer to the restrained, Old World end of the style than the tropical, upfront Sauvignon Blancs grown in warmer parts of the country.

Lemon and grapefruit lead the nose, with cut grass, a touch of white nectarine and a faintly herbal lift sitting underneath. There's a subtle waxy, lanolin note from the Sémillon that gives the aromatics a bit more weight than a straight Sauvignon Blanc would carry. The palate stays light and precise rather than fruit-forward, leaning on line and detail rather than power or overt fruit sweetness.

Acidity is the backbone here, keeping the texture taut and the finish long and refreshing for a wine of this weight. It reads as dry and savoury rather than a wine built for sipping alone, with real persistence through the back palate.

Pemberton's cooler climate makes this a natural match for oysters, grilled whiting or a simple green salad finished with goat's cheese. It also holds up well against Vietnamese and Thai dishes built on lime, coriander and chilli.

Drink it now while the aromatics are at their liveliest, ideally within the next twelve to eighteen months.
