Tasting Notes:

Deep crimson in colour with a perfumed bouquet of strawberry & herbs, rich and savoury with hints of rhubarb & dark cherry, firm balanced tannins and the masterful use of French oak (20% new) add to the complexity providing a wine that will reward patient cellaring.

Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard – estate grown, single vineyard

Location:

Lenswood – a sub region of the Adelaide Hills Wine Region – the vineyard is 550 metres above sea level, 20km due east of Adelaide – the Pinot Noir block faces north.

Climate:

The region is classed as cool climate with the undulating and steep sloping terrain around Lenswood minimizing frost risk.  The altitude & protected site also reduces the chance of a heat wave during summer. 

Soils:

The soil is predominately sandy, clay loam with a rock base of quartz, sandstone and ironstone with the steep slopes providing excellent drainage as well as reducing the risk of frost.

Vertical Shoot Positioning VSP and with 0.9 metre vine spacing and 2.5 metre wide rows

Vine Age:

Low yielding vines first planted in 1994
