$ 425.00 Single
Category: Wine
Sub-Category: Red wine

Tasting Notes:

Premier Cru "Combe au Moine" probably owes its name to the presence of the Cluniac order in Gevrey-Chambertin.

The grapes vinified by the estate come from a small plot of 0.30 ha of 40-year-old vines. From this climate is born a wine more in finesse than in power, but very structured nevertheless. Its subtle vivacity underlines a salivating minerality of rare elegance. The floral notes blend subtly with the aromas of wild berries for a long and very persistent mouth.

Vinified with 50% whole bunches.

Ageing lasts about 18 months in 20% new barrels.

About Domaine René Bouvier:

Domaine René Bouvier is establishing its reputation as a vintage after vintage model. Historically anchored on the lands of Marsannay and Gevrey-Chambertin since 1910, it is Bernard Bouvier, the grandson of the founder who now leads the operation with a master hand. Bernard participated in the development of the talented young generation of Burgundians. It has even established itself as one of the sure values of the Côte de Nuits and is today one of the leaders of this renewal.

Present on about twenty different climates with now a little more than thirty hectares planted, since the takeover of the vines of his brother Régis, Bernard Bouvier brings his paw of maker of great wine on many terroirs, from the North of the Côte de Nuits de Marsannay to Chambolle-Musigny. The estate has really taken off for about fifteen years. The 2003 vintage thus marks the certification of the entire vineyard in organic farming. The breeding is more discreet in order to reveal a more sincere expression of the terroir far from the standardization often denounced among purists.=

Great winemaker of red, we sometimes regret the lack of availability in white because Bernard Bouvier has the rare talent to excel in both colors. The range is divided in a very harmonious way between appellations, scales of crus and therefore on prices sometimes unattainable in Burgundy. Affordable generic, expressive villages, complex premiers crus and grands crus of guard, there is something for all palates and especially for all budgets.

What gives depth and emotion in the wines of the estate is the age of the vineyard. With an average age of 50 years, often including century-old vines, the general roots of the vineyard are incredible. Inevitably, the wines offer exceptional richness and finesse both aromatically and structurally. Panache, power, control of tannins and minerality to spare, rare are the areas that can benefit from all these virtues. But what strikes above all is the soul of Bernard Bouvier's wines. Each sip provokes a subtle and singular emotionin the taster and it is above all this unique and stimulating character that makes the soul of a great wine According to Bernard Bouvier, the definition of a great juice, "it is the one that makes you salivate, that makes you want to finish the bottle that you have uncorked! ".
