Paradigm Hill L'ami sage Pinot Noir (2020)

375mL / Mornington Peninsula / Australia

Category: Wine
Sub-Category: Red wine

Whilst the 2016 season was desperately disappointing for beach goers, for vignerons it was a dream come true! The absence of extreme weather events coupled with mild and ideal growing conditions and healthy vineyards contributed to what may well be amongst the best growing seasons. The exceptional conditions continued through to harvest with some of the most impeccable fruit arriving in the winery seemingly eager to be made into some seriously delicious wines!

The wines show their hallmark of elegance coexisting with intensity of fine savoury earthy flavours. There’s a subtle hint of dry herb and spice - but that in itself is part of the complexity of character. Once again the terroir for the L’ami sage and Les cinq single vineyard wines speak so clearly and distinctly. We maintain a very consistent approach to the viticulture, harvest and vinification yet they each present as such unique individuals!

Les cinq has intense, enticing darker red fruit aromas followed by the expected savoury, fleshy and earthy character of this wine. The L’ami sage in 2016 reflects more perfume and elegance, yet, paradoxically exhibiting both subtlety and power. The fine tannin structure builds on the palate and as with the Les cinq, there is a generosity together with a long complex and balanced fresh finish. Whilst these wines are delicious to enjoy now, we believe cellaring for 15 or more years will delight the patient collector.
