Peter’s Block Pinot Noir is only produced in outstanding vintages when the weather conditions are ideal. It is dedicated to Peter Sykes who was to become Mike Fitzpatrick’s father-in-law and who introduced Mike to wine while he was at Oxford. Peter’s Block utilises the most outstanding barrels of Pinot Noir to produce a remarkable wine of character that pays homage to the man who inspired Squitchy Lane.

Tasting Notes:

Peter’s Block is drawn from the most outstanding barrels of pinot noir in an exceptional vintage. It is a wine with delicateness, structure and complexity. It has generous aromas of red and purple fruits with hints of dark cherry and strawberry. There are also hints of clove, cardamon and Indian spices with raspberry and blue fruits. The elegant and graceful palate is distinctive and structured and would suit a wide range of food.

Composition:
Pinot Noir (100% 114 Clone)

Winemaking:
The hand-picked fruit was 90% destemmed and 10% whole bunch pressed. It underwent a cold soak for ten days on skins before fermentation using indigenous yeasts. It was maturated in a combination of new (25%) and seasoned oak for nine months.

Pair with beetroot cured salmon.
