Pegasus Bay Main Divide Pinot Noir (2021)

750mL / Waipara Valley Canterbury / New Zealand

Category: Wine
Sub-Category: Red wine

Description
“Very fresh with sliced strawberries, hazelnut, cappuccino and biscuit character yet always subtle. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a nice acid background running through the wine”. James Suckling 94/100 - The stunning 2nd label crafted by the outstanding winemaking team at Pegasus Bay. Incredibly it’s an old vine Pinot Noir at an entry level price, Main Divide should sit at the top of any smart Kiwi wine buyer's shopping list. The entire range including Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay and Merlot blend always over-delivering with serious wines at modest prices. This 2021 Pinot Noir is Exhibit A, an awesome Pinot Noir that shows the regional Waipara signature, probably the best of many fine releases we have tried!

Bouquet
Rounded floral and spice aromas over top of smouldering black & red fruits, with a herbal undercurrent adding complexity and subtle intrigue.

Palate
A fulsome, quite luxurious mid-palate laden with ripe fruits, spices, and savoury oak… it has a luscious, long finish with dried herbs and baking spices emerging in a svelte body. Drinking beautifully now… and incredibly for a Pinot of this price, it should grow in complexity and drink well for 5-7 years.
