Holm Oak Estate Pinot Noir (2025)

The Holm Oak Estate Pinot Noir 2025 is a medium-bodied Tasmanian pinot noir from the Tamar Valley, drawn from a selection of clones across the estate's own blocks. A relatively warm growing season has given the 2025 plenty of red-fruit generosity without tipping it out of balance.

Strawberry and dark cherry lead the aromatics, with a dusting of baking spice and something faintly floral behind. The palate follows the nose closely, layering ripe red berries over a savoury, almost earthy undercurrent that keeps the fruit honest.

Tasmania's cool nights show in the acidity, which runs clean and bright through the middle and stops the wine feeling broad. Tannins are fine-grained and silky rather than grippy, framing the fruit lightly and carrying a long, gently spiced finish. There is real texture here for a wine of this weight.

Duck breast with cherries is the obvious call, though the Holm Oak Estate Pinot Noir 2025 handles mushroom risotto, roast pork belly or a plate of charcuterie just as happily. Give it a light chill on a warm evening and it will sit comfortably alongside grilled salmon.

Drink from now through to around 2032. The 2025 is open and welcoming already, but the acid line and fine tannins suggest another five or six years will bring more savoury complexity for those with the patience.
