The Willowlake Pinot Noir 2023 is Alkimi's other single-vineyard Yarra Valley pinot, drawn from a different site to their Duck Pond bottling and showing a noticeably different character.

Where Duck Pond leans red-fruited, Willowlake carries darker plum and blackberry tones alongside a savoury, earthy undercurrent. The palate has real grip for Yarra pinot, with firm but fine tannin and good length.

It is a fuller style within the Yarra idiom, built more on structure than pure perfume.

Pair it with duck breast, mushroom risotto, or a lamb dish with some richness to match the wine's weight.

Drinking well now, with the structure to develop further over the next four to five years.
