Ingram Road Chardonnay (2025)

750mL / Yarra Valley, VIC / Australia

Category: Wine
Sub-Category: White Wine

The Ingram Road Chardonnay 2025 is a bright, cool-climate Yarra Valley white built for early drinking rather than long contemplation. Grapefruit and white peach lead, with enough texture underneath to keep it interesting past the first glass.

The nose is clean and citrus-driven — lemon curd, nectarine, a touch of white blossom and something faintly nutty sitting behind the fruit. On the palate the fruit is nectarine and green apple, carried on a line of lemony acidity that keeps everything tidy and fresh.

Medium-bodied and gently creamy through the middle, this Chardonnay from the Yarra Valley finishes dry and chalky, with a savoury twist of grapefruit pith on the close. The acidity does the structural work here, so the wine feels lively rather than broad, and it holds its shape as it warms in the glass.

Pour it alongside roast chicken with lemon and thyme, grilled flathead, a leek and gruyère tart, or freshly shucked oysters. It also handles creamy pasta and mild Asian dishes well, where the acid cuts through richness without overwhelming delicate flavours.

Drink the 2025 now and over the next three to four years. It is showing beautifully in its youth, though a year or two in the cellar will soften the acid line and let those toasty, savoury characters come forward.
