Nashdale Lane Chardonnay (2025)
750mL / Orange / Australia
Nashdale Lane's Chardonnay 2025 draws on Orange's high-altitude vineyards, where cool nights slow ripening and preserve the acid that gives this bottling its energy. It sits in a fresher, more linear style than Chardonnay from warmer Australian regions, and shows the natural tension the region is known for.
White peach, grapefruit and a subtle nutty note lead the nose, with a light floral lift and a faint flinty edge. The palate is bright and citrus-driven, with stone fruit carried on fine, persistent acid rather than any broad, buttery richness, and real precision through the middle.
Clean and taut through the finish, the acid keeps everything in check, giving real length without weight, and a lingering citrus note that carries through to the last sip.
It suits lighter dishes than a fuller Chardonnay would want: pan-fried fish, a chicken salad, fresh ricotta, a simple seafood pasta, or roast vegetables finished with lemon.
It is drinking well now and, like much cool-climate Chardonnay, has the structure to develop further over the next two to three years.
