These three Rhone Valley varieties have a strong heritage in the Yarra Valley and our two rows of each consistently yield beautiful fruit. The combination of the three varieties builds a wine with lifted honeysuckle and white flower perfume, fine acidity, great texture and length. The overall effect is a savoury wine that is ideal with a range of food types.
A wild barrel ferment has resulted in a very restrained, inviting aroma of lime and fig with a subtle nutty character. The flavour profile continues this theme, and the 2021 version of South Block is one of great balance and harmony.
Silky texture with bright red berry flavours complemented by notes of cranberry & pomegranate. An elegant and persistent finish.
Tatsumi Gin has woody, hints of pine, scent of citrus, fragrant (fruity like the Ginfo-Sake).
In the palate of juniper berry, very pleasant spicy, aftertaste laden with complexity and richness, conferred by the basic spirits.
Inky black colour with a narrow purple rim. The nose is built on a sturdy foundation of rich and potent blackcurrant, cherry and blackberry aromas interlaced with notes of apricot and plum. Hints of cedar wood, gumcistus and violet provide the exotic scented dimension which is the hallmark of Vargellas followed Vintage Ports. On the palate the first impression is supple and restrained but the finish reveals a tightly knit fabric of sinewy tannin and unleashes a powerful surge of rich black fruit flavour.
This is a voluptuous, silky wine with plenty of blackcurrant and mint. The palate is mouth-filling and flavoursome with soft, velvety tannins.
