Lifted white peach, yellow nectarine and fresh pineapple marry with a hint of florals and spice from the French oak. The palate is fresh and tight, dominated by stone fruits, citrus and green melon. A bright acid profile and some textural phenolics are balanced with the subtle French oak which provides a softness and carries the flavours across the palate.

This blend of skins fermentations with the more traditional pressed juice results in a fragrant perfumed wine, with aromas of citrus blossom, baked apple, mandarin, and aniseed. The entry to the palate is full and intense, with weight that drives through a long and lingering finish. Flavor's of savoury biscuits and nutmeg further highlight the palate.

Ripe stone fruit flavours of peach and dried apricot are complimented by a flinty minerality and subtle French oak influence giving hints of roasted hazelnut.

Auntsfield Estate Pinot Noir shows a rich silky texture, which is full and concentrated.

A great example of Germany's well-known off-dry rieslings. Citrus aromas and flavours, small amount of residual sugar; balanced by the wine's acidity. 

Baron Herzog Pinot Noir is a fruity wine which is sweet. It has a peppery finish which is well paired with Beef and veal.

Baron Herzog Pinot Grigio is a light pinot noir that has the colour of white straw colour and apricot. This grape juice has the taste of cherry and goes well with pork and cured meats.

Baron Herzog Chardonnay is dark gold in colour and fruity for the nose. It has little maloactic fermentation giving it a tarty taste with a hint of honey.

Barringwood vineyard is located on a steep north facing slope overlooking the Don Valley in Tasmania's central North. Established in 1993 the vineyard rises to an elevation of 280m and has one of the longest growing seasons in Tasmania giving their wines delicacy, elegance and immense complexity as well as a distinct backbone of cool climate acidity. Their success in producing outstanding wines on a climatically marginal site is dependent on supreme diligence and attention to detail in the vineyard.

On the palate, the wine is fresh and lively, with a crisp acidity that balances the creamy texture and flavors of lemon, pear, and hazelnut. It has a long, lingering finish with a touch of minerality. This Chardonnay is perfect to pair with seafood dishes or creamy pasta sauces.
 

Five Stones Semillon Sauvignon Blanc is a blend with and intense ad-on, its smell is like lemon and other citrusy fruits. It tastes of passion fruit and mineral characters with the after taste of citrusy acidity.

A real insider’s wine, or another Best Kept Secret, Great Western Riesling is aromatic and flavoursome yet structured and spectacularly age-worthy. Best's Rieslings stand confidently alongside their acclaimed South Australian cousins. The Great Western region lends itself well to producing exceptional Rieslings – its diurnal weather patterns (warm days/cold nights) work well for this varietal. Some of our original nursery plantings can be traced back to Germany, so there's a significant history and pedigree in the root stock of Great Western Riesling.

Grown on the sandy loams of the Concongella Creek and the Rhymney Vineyard sites, and occasionally from selected local vineyards, Best’s Riesling shows the intensity and finesse that are hallmarks of the Great Western region. The wine is made to show true varietal characteristics, achieved by letting the pristine fruit shine above all else. It is cold fermented in stainless steel tanks, retaining the fruit’s inherent aromatics and acidity. Balance, texture and fruit flavour make for an accessible, food-friendly wine. And while made to drink now, it will definitely age for many years to come. We can testify that Best’s Great Western Rieslings from the 1970s are drinking superbly now.
