Bual is medium sweet and rich, with a thick texture moderated by tangy acidity. Caramel, molasses, walnut and orange flavors accelerate to a long, delineated finish with an aftertaste of the sea. Powerful and complex.

As for the 10YO, although there is more sweetness here, the wine is still fresh and lively. This can go with richer dishes that are meat based or with sweeter dishes. Try this with cheese, fruit tarts, crème caramel, Portuguese custard tarts or tarte tartin. Brilliant amber wine with golden shades. Aromatic, revealing age, dried fruits. Medium rich, full body, complex and dried fruits.

Ageing in oak casks has given this dry wine a soft, subtle aroma. A very elegant aperitif with a brilliant fruity flavour.

A dark, full bodied, luscious, dessert wine. It will work on its own or with rich foods like chocolate, petits fours, blue cheese and with coffee.

The mellowing effect of ageing in oak casks has created this lovely Madeira; soft and elegant it is perfect with soups or as an aperitif. A ripe aftertaste gained from several years ageing in oak casks.

A medium dark, rich and fruity wine, lighter than 'Full Rich' or a Malmsey, but full bodied and very fragrant. Delicious as a dessert wine, especially with fruit based deserts, chocolate, or rich cakes. It also a good pairing with strong cheeses such as Roquefort or Stilton or just with coffee.

A deeper wine all around yet for all the richness outlined below, again, one of the striking features is the refreshing elegance of the wine. This could also take on richer desserts like plum pudding. Or it is great simply on its own at the end of a meal to lift the spirits and refresh the palate!

Verdelho is off dry to lightly sweet. Wine Spectator: 91 points outstanding. "Serious stuff. Despite a slightly singed nose, it exhibits complex flavors of honey, smoke, pears and wet pine needles. Rich, with an underlying, tangy vibrancy that follows through to the long, walnut and salty finish. A wine for meditation.

As for the 10YO, this is a striking, off-dry wine that can be served as an aperitif, with tapas type dishes or seafood. Also excellent with consommés or soups. Verdelho has a medium body and racy acidity.
