Lifted fresh red and black fruits, layered with autumnal notes and spice from some whole bunch fermentation. Juicy and red fruited, with a plush and supple palate. There is a hint of spice and fresh herbs from the whole bunch component and the mouthwatering natural acidity and fine tannins result in a textural and long lasting finish.

The lifted, concentrated nose is abundant with red cherry, plum and black fruits. A lick of Indian spice and fragrant floral notes are supported by the subtle French oak. A core of dense, concentrated dark fruits are framed by fresh raspberry and cranberry notes. Subtle earthy notes and Indian spice sit in the background wrapped in the French oak. A vibrant acidity and fine tannin profile ensure a long and powerful finish.

This is a light to medium bodied red wine best served slightly chilled on a warm day or room temperature on a cold day. It’s a wine to be enjoyed on release rather than cellared. Lifted florals and aromas of fresh strawberries and red jubes, a result of the carbonic maceration. Bright, fresh and crunchy, this light bodied wine is perfect slightly chilled. Full of juicy red berry flavours with a hint of Campari bitterness.

Fresh thyme and rosemary with spice notes of black cardamon, cinnamon and warm cedar with a palate that is wonderfully open and calm - red fruits glide through the finish.

A very aromatic vintage, the 2018 has a wonderful mix of violets, red cherry and more spicey elements of fennel seed and rosemary. The palate is bright and energetic with red fruit flavours filling out the mid palate, the finish is long and uplifting. This is an elegant and finely structured McCrone Pinot Noir, characteristic of the 2018 vintage.

A complex set of aromas and flavours which ripple over each other: juniper, cranberry, manuka flower, sandalwood, a hint of gingerbread and classic sweet hay. On the palate, flavours spread from warm spice to Campari, with a savoury seam that hints at ramen broth. The entry is vibrant and compelling with a rush of tannin that sweeps the flavours right through the palate. While this release will reward from cellaring, it is also highly satisfying to drink now.

2021 was a very small yielding vintage resulting in wines with intensity and concentration. The small compact bunches gave a wonderful blend of bright fruit aromas and more dark seductive notes of dark cherry, thyme and mulberry. The palate opens to more savoury notes of soy, tahini and burnt orange, which gives a depth of flavour. Combined with fresh acidity that gives energy and fine tannins that drive a sustaining finish. Only small quantities made, our Crimson 2021 shows the structure and drive of a small vintage in Martinborough.

This wine is a beautiful reflection of this cool climate region, aromatic on the nose, fine and elegant mid-palette with a clean acid finish. 40% whole bunch and adged in one third new oak, this is made to cellar.
