Evangeline presents and elegant cooler climate expression of Shiraz distinct from its Barossa Valley brethren with its lifted perfume and delicate structure. Cool blue fruits are intertwined with silky tannins and subtle oak influence from 18 months maturation in fine grain French oak puncheons and hogshead barrels. Perfumed. Confident.
'Sub-names Battle For Barossa, this blend of tempranillo, grenache and graciano is all smoky black jelly bean, dried meats, pickled walnut nuttiness, nutmeg spice and jubey raspberry red fruit. Tight, dark and fruit focused with a keen thrust of acidity' - Regan Drew, Wine Words
Old Vine Grenache is the hero of our Barossa GSM. Elegant Syrah and spicy Mourvèdre add their signature definition and structure to this harmonious ensemble. 9 months Elevage in seasoned (3 - 8yr old) French oak Hogsheads support deep-fruited, dark cherry, strawberry and mineral laden (graphite/ferrous) palate with a lovely savoury lick of supple fine-grain tannin. Gentle refreshing acidity gives great line and drives the brooding and delicious fruit through to a lingering finish.
Barossa Shiraz...reinvented. Handcrafted with a focus on fruit purity combined with delicacy of structure; courtesy of 6 months seasoned French oak puncheons. It's crunchy, bunchy and vibrant...there's an unbridled energy about this wine. It's breezy aromatics entice, leading into a juicy, pillowy palate of fresh cranberries, lush blueberries and restrained jubey red fruits.
Bottled Grenache energy. Whole-bunch vibes emanate throughout, poised like a raspberry packed jack-in-a-box that has a sprinkling of dried cranberry thrown over the top before jamming the lid shut. Smells like spring; cool but sunny... it's all fresh raspberries, cranberry and musk. On the palate, it's fresh and lively, with bright red fruits and lip-smacking fine tannins to leave you wanting more...
Deep crimson/purple in colour with a nose of cedar, spice and plum hinting at the mix of dark fruits and chocolate lurking on the rich structured palate. The wine shows powerful depth of flavour with plush lingering mouthfeel.
