Purple-velvet. Deep and dark; bright, and complete with a beautiful rim-edge mirroring the parallax of the universe. Fresh plums ever so ripe but plucked from the tree at dawn when you are still remembering the evening before. Mulberry from a tree nearby, blackberry from the dusty laneway; bay leaf, lavender, roses wild and nutmeg. Deep brooding aromatics that reveal little but yet say all.
Black purple and very deep in colour. Vibrant. Classic tempranillo aromatics of black cherry, pepper, cherry pip, African Violets, cola nut, spearmint, and - of course - a 2B pencil's lead. Juicy yet dry, but then again tempranillo is a creature of split, multiple personalities. There are the fruity shiraz-like flavours of earth and plums; and the silkiness of texture and acidity more often associated with pinot noir. At each stage of the palate there is an interplay with fruit and acid and tannin, making this an ever-engaging red wine. The final highlight is the never-ending length of the wine.
Dark purple density, with flashes of vermillion, the rim edge shines like a brand new cricket ball. Kale and rose petal, cinnamon and nutmeg, liqueur chocolate and blackberry. This is an evenly matched tussle between fruit aromatics and winemaking bouquet, with the noble and just fruit winning. Savoury, spicy and sweet.
Pale white straw, clear and bright in color. Aromas off small rockmelon, ripe lime, green apple cut and rubbed with fresh lemon. There is spice and there is fruit skin; the aromatic exotica is at both once heady and yet balletic. You dance as you drown. The palate is piercing and strident - the acidity and the lush green fruits. A double-pronged attack. Mouth-coating fruit flavours of pear, apple and lemon. Keen acidity sweeps in at the first opportunity making this a white wine that is cutting and clear and long and strong.
Pale, pale-white, pale straw. Aromas are lifted and piercing; slate and sharp honey-suckle. Freshly fallen rain on mountain river pebbles. Lime, limestone, lotus flower, grapefruit. Awakening... Clean and long with zesting acidity - this checks the fine, deep, tense and intense sauvignon blanc fruit core: lime, lemongrass, lantana, gooseberry, fresh lychee, and garden-picked fresh green bean. This hidden fruit depth is also braced by a textural minerality. Pure yet also intriguing
Oak’s almond and baked bread bouquet sneak in, almost undetected. These cooler fruit flavours carry over, adding the cleansing acidity so suited to the palate’s otherwise more giving stone fruit flavours of peach and apricot; other fruits ping, too: mandarin, melon and rockmelon. The oak regime adds just a hint of creaminess, but a mere knife-point in terms of measurement and weight. The texture is welcoming and appealing, balanced in a cautionary way by the stoic acidity.

White-gold and bright; clear and welcoming. Fruit aromatics of nectarine and apricot kernels and skin. Minerals, mandarin peel, frangipani and fresh lychee straight from the tree; ditto green apples yet to fall from the branch. A swirling perfume that is both enticing yet austere. A front palate of mineral water and freshly fallen rain. The subsequent fruit intensity stretches out an already long palate, with flavours of stone fruit and apple etched by a line of clean and fresh acidity. There’s more mineral and rain water in the finish, where there’s a textural element that provides some breadth, giving dimension to the otherwise acid linearity.
